We were approached by Quartz sometime last year to work on a series of portrait illustrations for their annual list of African Innovators, at the time they were working on the second list. We didn't end up working on the illustrations unfortunately. Fast forward in late March this year and we were asked again to work on the African Innovators series, this time the launch of this project was going to coincide with the World Economic Forum in Durban South Africa. We had a very limited amount of time to get this project done. After about 4 weeks of intensive work we are happy to share this series of 33 portrait illustrations African innovators from around 18 different countries, men as well as women working in various professions creating groundbreaking innovations (science, finance, technology, agriculture, cinematography, fashion, entertainment and much more). Some of the innovators on the list indeed spoke at this year's World Economic Forum in Durban South Africa. Check out the entire list of this year's Quartz African Innovators with detailed descriptions.
